Distribution Team Leader



To monitor and drive the performance of the team so that operational plans and KPI’s of the DC are met whilst at the same time promoting the culture of Sikhula KunYe. 


  • Monitors headcount and provides input into daily labour requirements
  • Allocate work/tasks and targets to individuals: provides clear guidelines and drives performance
  •  Resources (e.g. talkman/batteries) are available and in working order so that productivity targets can be met
  •  Monitors and reports on picker productivity for each shift
  •  Walks the line to ensure delivery on the operational plans (e.g. sufficient cartons are generated from the line; correct size cartons are used; unscanned cartons are kept to a minimum and picker accuracy is maintained) 
  • Identifiers operational issues, takes action to resolve and informs different departments that may be impacted
  • Hourly production reports
  • Leads and motivates staff in alignment with Sikhula Kunye culture
  • Monitor and Escalates daily disciplinary issues e.g late comings, absenteeism, etc. to the Supervisor/Planning Manager
  • Ensures compliance with health and safety requirements
  • Manage housekeeping and health and safety in departments
  • Manage lost time in departments
  • Ad Hoc responsibilities as required
  • Deliver to ORE Standards


  • 2 – 3 years’ experience within a DC environment
  • Knowledge of distribution techniques
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations will be an advantage
  • Competencies: Leadership skills; Communication Skills; Planning, organizing and control; detail orientation; Problem Assessment; Stress tolerance and Confidence and decisiveness
