Inventory Accountant (C3)

DEPARTMENT: Finance

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To manage the Inventory team and functions relating to Financial Inventory Management.  To analyse, interpret and reconcile differences in financial and logistical data.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform or review financial month-end close off procedures for inventory (including IFRS adjustments) and processing of corresponding journal entries
  • Preparation of income statements and other reporting documents included in the monthly management accounts pack
  • Review of  monthly reconciliations (inventory, lay-buys, etc.)
  • Analysing monthly inventory accounts
  • Calculating stock turn and other stock related ratio’s
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors when and where required
  • Facilitate the Planning and Merchandising Departments’ annual budget, quarterly forecasts and 3 year plan
  • Assist with the investigation of store inventory stock take queries and assist in resolving them
  • Transporter claims: review ageing of transporter claims, manage team in resolving any discrepancies and prepare the necessary journal entries
  • Adhoc projects, tasks and reports

JOB INCUMBENT REQUIREMENTS

  • B Comm or equivalent finance qualification (Diploma/ Degree)
  • 3 years’ work experience in a finance environment
  • Good knowledge of inventory processes
  • SAICA Audit articles for CA (SA) or AGA (SA) will be an advantage
  • Retail experience will be an advantage

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • High Levels of Computer literacy – advanced Excel
  • Google suite (Gmail; Calendar; Sheets, Docs)
  • Previous SAP experience would be an advantage
  • SAP Business Objects, Qlikview and/or Finnivo will be an advantage
  • Managing a team
